HI! I’m Gee, a certified somatic coach, yoga teacher and movement practitioner with a 10-year background in community and cultural programming across NGOs, local Government and the third sector.

It is my mission to help people live more authentically and in deeper connection with their bodies and one another. I utilise somatic therapies, intuitive movement and mindfulness to promote embodied self-awareness, cross-cultural empathy and relational intelligence.

This is why I became a somatic coach and movement practitioner

For most of my life I lived in a state of disembodiment and disconnection. Like so many of us, my early years and upbringing had led me to, in many ways, shut down and lose my playfulness, innate curiosity and zest for life. Twelve years of talking therapy in my teens and early twenties failed to penetrate this barrier. Therapy certainly helped me grow in my understanding of myself and my behaviours but I never felt fully reconnected with my confident, carefree and loving inner child. No amount of telling ourselves that the past is in the past, no amount of narrating or making sense of it, framing and reframing it, will make our bodies believe that to be true. Narrative is a means of self-soothing the mind, but our fears and traumas reside in the body - I eventually learned I couldn’t simply think my way to feeling better… Read more here

I do not consider myself an expert or a guide. I don’t believe that I have the specific answers you are looking for or know what mindset shifts or actions would be right for you. My approach is driven by my belief in the innate goodness, wholeness and wisdom of every person I work with. I believe a great deal of our suffering, pain, anxiety and confusion derives from disembodiment and a disconnection from our bodies and our deep, inner knowing. This can be overcome as we relearn how to experience the full beauty, complexity, madness and magic of this thing called life - as children do! Our natural state is one of resilience, resourcefulness and joy - it is very possible to restore this. Sometimes the clarity, peace or connection we are searching for is just on the other side of something we are trying to bury. As we allow our experiences, emotions and self to simply be witnessed and held, we are better equipped to evolve with life's changes and grow with flow as opposed to resistance.

I consider coaching sessions an opportunity to explore this. Healing and transformation are always relational, together we create a safe space where you can rediscover or recreate yourself. As a great mentor of mine once said, good coaching is like going for a stroll in the park with a friend. My role is to remain beside you on your journey, mindfully listen, ask questions which illuminate your intrinsic beliefs and desires and to gently invite you into deeper self-reflection and connection with yourself, on both a conceptual and embodied level.

As we deepen the sacred bond to your intuition and wisdom, next steps and resonant actions begin to arise organically. This clarity and insight can only emerge through you. In our time together, we simply develop the tools for you to be able to access and receive it. Growing somatic awareness also develops your capacity for joy, presence and meaningful connection. The pathway to this is often a combination of traditional coaching tools and somatic techniques and practices (which utilise anything from breathwork, intuitive and rhythmic movement, embodied play, the imagination and creative mediums). The process is driven by curiosity, acceptance and collaboration. It is important to me that the journey in and of itself feels nurturing and sustainable. As we embark on this work together, we find ways to attune to the nourishment you can find internally and from your environment.

VALUES UNDERPINNING OUR WORK TOGETHER

AUTHENTICITY

CONNECTION

PLAY

COGNITIVE UNDERSTANDING

I adopt a holistic and intersectional approach to the use of mainstream coaching tools and models to enhance your ability to self-reflect and identify limiting core beliefs.

SOMATIC AWARENESS

Organic Intelligence principles, Hakomi experiments, Focusing and Embodiment exercises are some of the methods used to notice and track body sensations. These provide useful feedback and lay the groundwork for effective transmutation and processing.

EMBODIED PLAY

We will use play to build self-trust and intuition and to simply explore new ways of being. Play can take the form of imagination, improvisation or characterisation. This gentle approach establishes a degree of safety which is conducive to embodied learning and sustainable change.

RESTORATIVE INTEGRATION

We will incorporate integrative practices to anchor insights and emotional shifts. Savouring and magnifying the benefits of your work supports resonant action and enables organic growth.
